African Drumming and Singing
Fancy having a go at playing the snazziest of West African djembe drums? COURSE YOU DO. Then come along to the most uplifting of jam-sessions where you’ll make some beautiful beats, sing some harmonies and get to know the nuances of this ancient instrument. Miriam will be holding the drumming session then we’ll flow into world harmony songs expertly led by Dawn Ellis.
Miriam Minz has been playing djembe for a many years. Sought by festival promoters for her engaging onstage persona, a paradoxical mix of shy and vibrant, she is a sensitive workshop facilitator.
Dawn Ellis comes from a theatre and storytelling background. 15 years of team building group facilitation has ensured she can read any crowd and put them at ease immediately. Many people think they can’t sing so she begins with easy warm-ups. Then before you know it, 3-part harmony!
